Re:
The Promise of Urban Schools the article looks at the relationship between education and the community. What is education and what does in mean to different people in our community. We would all like to believe that eduction levels the playing field everyone who pursue it. It could be in the matter of find work or democratic perspective. As a future teacher I would like to see Anew look at urban schools. Annenberg proposal of a high-quality urban eduction that enrich all aspects of public life is an idealistic program. This high-quality urban education believes that new language and new multi focal lenses are needed. The article purpose five lenses (AEIOU)which is Agency, Equity and Justice, Instruction and Curriculum, Outcome and Impacts, and Urban Condition and Context . I found that the article is very interesting and provides many insight on what could improve the urban schools. The "five lenses" would help one to look at education in urban schools as well as any schools in a new light. I also feel that the article points out certain things that effects a students learning and a teacher teaching in urban schools.

The Annenberg's article did have some great ways to help improve the urban schools; however it is finding good teachers who are willing to help their students to move forward. Without motivation and hope, students in the urban setting tend to stray away. Visiting the schools in Newark made me realize it is not the students, its the school setting itself. Students will have a better education and feel safe, if they were not treated as prisoners by having a fence on the windows and going through metal detectors everyday. We need to think about our students and educate them.
